The Hubble Telescope
Although the Hubble Telescope was named after Edwin Hubble, he did not actually invent the telescope. The Hubble Telescope was created and launched in 1990, nearly 37 years after he had died. The Hubble Telescope was named after Edwin Hubble because the reason the Telescope was launched was to learn more about other distant galaxies, and Edwin was the one that discovered that other galaxies exist outside the Milky Way. The Hubble Telescope has orbited the Earth for the last 23 years, constantly taking photographic iimages and photos to provide more information about the universe.
One Reason the Hubble Telescope is able to take such detailed pictures is that the atmosphere that humans look through with the naked eye to see stars and other objects bends light through diffraction, therefore, making vision from the Earth's surface blurred. A satelite or telescope in orbit around the Earth will be able to take more detaied photo's of other galaxies since there is no atmosphere in the way of it's vision.
